The Nenthorn Farmhouse combines country charm, privacy and stunning rural views in the heart of the Nenthorn Valley.
Sleeping up to 5 guests, the farmhouse offers two bedrooms within the main house, with additional accommodation available in a separate sleepout located just a few steps from the back door. A separate dining room, spacious living room and two open fires create a warm and welcoming atmosphere throughout the year.
Whether you’re exploring East Otago, visiting family and friends, attending a local event or simply looking to relax in a peaceful rural setting, The Nenthorn Farmhouse offers comfortable accommodation with exclusive use of the property.
A well-equipped kitchen and rear courtyard provide everything you need for a self-catered stay, while optional breakfast provisions and evening meals are available by prior arrangement.

Our private cosy and inviting farmhouse is designed to provide you with a comfortable stay while still preserving the rustic charm of the countryside. The accommodation is thoughtfully furnished to ensure a restful night’s sleep and a home-away-from-home experience. The house has 2 bedrooms and a sleepout, separate kitchen, dining room and living area and a well designed bathroom with separate loo, vanity room and shower/bath room allowing a larger group to separately utilise the bathroom facilities. A sheltered, rustic courtyard is an ideal place to gather and relax, as the sun goes down.
Guests have access to the farmhouse and its fenced area and are welcome to take a quick stroll up the hill, through our farmland to the top of Billy’s Ridge to get magnificent views of the Moonlight Valley, Rock and Pillar Range and beyond. Please note, farm access is restricted during the lambing season.
The Nenthorn Farmhouse is set up for independent stays, and guests can enjoy complete privacy throughout their visit. We live nearby on the farm and are available should any issues arise or assistance be required during your stay.
Check-in is from 2 pm and check-out is by 10 am unless otherwise arranged. Otago Central Rail Trail guests will need to ensure they have checked their ittinery for their bag drop off time.
While there is a stock proof fence around the Farmhouse area, the upper reaches of the Nenthorn River run very close to the house. This provides the perfect playground for older children but young children will need to be supervised at all times.
The laundry facilities are limited to an outdoor tub with hot water and a drying rack. Washing at drying of your laundry can be done at the homestead for a small fee. For stays of one week or longer, full laundry access can be arranged.
We understand that plans can change. As The Nenthorn Farmhouse is reserved exclusively for your group, cancellations at short notice can leave us unable to rebook the accommodation.
More than 30 days before check-in
Bookings may be cancelled without charge and accommodation payments will be refunded.
Within 30 days of check-in
The booking becomes Arrival Assured and cancellation charges apply.
14–30 days before check-in
Cancellations receive a 50% refund of the accommodation charges.
Less than 14 days before check-in
Accommodation charges are non-refundable.
Bookings made within the Arrival Assured period
For bookings made within 30 days of check-in, you may cancel within 48 hours of making the booking for a full refund, provided the cancellation is made at least 14 days before check-in.
Changing your dates
If your plans change, please contact us as soon as possible. Subject to availability, we may agree to transfer your booking to alternative dates. Any change of dates is at the discretion of Havrincourt Farm.
No-shows and early departures
No refund is provided for no-shows, late arrivals or unused nights where guests choose to leave before the end of their booked stay.
Refunds and booking fees
Where a payment processing fee has been charged to us and is not refunded to us when a booking is cancelled, that fee may be deducted from any refund due.
Bookings made through an agent, booking platform or other third party may be subject to that provider’s own cancellation terms and fees.
We recognise that exceptional circumstances can arise. Any exceptions to these cancellation policies will be considered individually at the discretion of Havrincourt Farm.
Nothing in this cancellation policy limits any rights you may have under New Zealand consumer law.
